Outside – badminton and bocce

Swimming in the 15m x 5m private pool
The pool is situated on a peaceful hillside location and slopes gently from 1.6m at the deep end to 1.3 m at the shallow end. It is surrounded by a spacious travertino patio with plenty of room for 10 sun loungers. Most of the area around the pool is un-shaded and there are no parasols but for those who prefer not to sunbath there is shade in the afternoons by the pool under an oak tree where there is a stone table that seats 6.

The pool is unfenced so non-swimmers and young children must be supervised.

In 2022 we installed a saltwater chlorine generator which monitors and controls the water quality automatically resulting in clean water that is gentler on the skin and eyes.

Paddling in the stream
More fun and safer with rock shoes

Clay modelling
With clay from the stream

Scrabble, Cluedo, Monopoly, Chess, Draughts, Twister and Guess Who?

Card games

We have a card table in the smaller sitting room

Barbecues

We have a barbecue with a smoker, both easy to use

Pizza making

The pizza oven is great fun to use for cooking pizza, sausages and joints of meat.

If you want to try your hand at cooking pizza, you can either make your own dough or use fresh pizza dough (“pasta” in Italian) from the local bakers, you will need to order this at least 24 hours in advance (approximately 150gm of fresh dough per pizza).

We have tried various methods of making pizza and our most successful attempts so far involve baking the pizza in well oiled disposable 26cm diameter aluminium foil trays, these are widely available in the local shops.

The fire needs to be lit 2 hours before cooking so that only red hot cinders remain, these should be pushed to the sides of the oven to make room for the pizzas which are placed on the cleared stone. 4-5 pizzas can be cooked at the same time. The pizzas take about 5 minutes to cook depending on how hot the oven is. Keep the oven door slightly ajar to maintain air flow.
